Our auditions for the mystery comedy play, DEAD GIVEAWAY, provides actors with some great characters to portray. We’re going to need one middle aged guy, one young woman, and five senior ladies.

Auditions are Monday, June 12, 2017 at 6:30pm at the McCrory Marketplace Great Hall in Downtown Clarksburg, WV.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the roles

Character: Angie Bowles
Age: late 20’s
Casting: Any woman who looks like she’s in her 20s.
Appears in 7 scenes; 55 of 62 pages.
The role of Angie is a substantial one. She is in every scene (and nearly every page). There’s a lot more depth and breadth to this role than is indicated in the general description, but we can’t tell you what that involves without spoilers. Just believe us when we tell you this is a great role for a young woman.

Character: Dr. Hugh Bernard
Age: 40s
Casting: Any man who looks like he’s in his 40s.
Appears in 5 of 7 scenes; 36/62 pages.
Hugh is described in the script as a reserved physician in his 40s. He appears in 5 of the 7 scenes in the show. This is another role that has more to it than initially meets the eye, but we can’t reveal the details. We’re not giving away spoilers.

Character: Beryl Chartres
Age: early 70s
Casting: woman between the ages of 60 and 75
Appears in 6 of 7 scenes; 26/62 pages.
Beryl owns the house where the story takes place. She’s a feisty widow who knows more than she reveals to her housemates. Not afraid to use a pistol if she needs to.

Character: Evelyn Harrington
Age: early 70s
Casting: woman between the ages of 60 and 75
Appears in all 7 scenes; 22/62 pages.
Evelyn is a retired actress who does not suffer fools. She’s not afraid to speak her mind. Described as “argumentative”, she can be a diva.

Character: Fiona Standish
Age: early 70s
Casting: woman between the ages of 60 and 75
Appears in all 7 scenes; 36/62 pages.
Fiona is the nice one. An aspiring writer, she studies everyone in every situation in case it’s something she can use in her novel. Like Beryl, she’s also a widow.

Character: Catherine Meers
Age: early 70s
Casting: woman between the ages of 60 and 75
Appears in all 7 scenes; 31/62 pages.
Catherine is the cool one. Everything she needs to know it life she learned from her garden. And just what is in that garden?

Character: Dinah Boxburrough
Age: early 70s
Casting: woman between the ages of 60 and 75
Appears in all 7 scenes; 28/62 pages.
Dinah is a tough old gal who wears black leather. She’s described in the script as a senior citizens Hell’s Angel. Tends to be very direct. Also a widow.
