Director Tyler Kovar began rehearsals this week for our upcoming musical, THE LAST FIVE YEARS. The show is written and composed by Jason Robert Brown.
The story follows the relationship of Jamie Wellerstein and Catherine Hiatt from beginning to end and end to beginning. Yes, you read that correctly.The play has a unusual structure in that the story of their relationship is sung by Cathy from end to beginning and by Jamie from beginning to end. Each sings the timeline of events from their own point of view. They appear on stage together for only one scene, the wedding.
Because the play is entirely musical (no spoken words) we are thrilled that our cast includes two outstanding vocalists from this area—Sarah Nale and Dustin Jones. (You’ll hear more about each of them later). They are pictured above at the first cast meeting with Kovar.
The show will open March 1 and continue through March 11. Thursday through Saturday performances will be at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm at the McCrory Marketplace Great Hall downtown Clarksburg, WV.
